The hearts of the people are open to the gospel of Christ and thousands are experiencing
what it is to have a relationship with the living God. In villages where there were no
believers, now there exist churches of several hundred people. Churches in the capital
city of Luanda are overflowing with worshippers each Sunday for up to five services. People
by the hundreds are turning to God every week and are accepting His forgiveness, hope and
new life. In less than 10 years time, the number of believers in Christ has grown from
just a few thousand to more than 1.5 million!

Joseph, in the book of Genesis, made an unusual, even startling, statement to his brothers
when they visited him in Egypt. To the ones who had started the downward spiral of negative
events in his life - slavery, imprisoned, abandonment - he said this: "You intended to harm
me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many
lives" (Gen. 50:20).

Angola, like Joseph, has had a history of pain and devastation. Under colonial rule, for
hundreds of years, the people were kidnapped and sold into slavery. Their natural and human
resources were used and abused by those in power. Within the nation, an entire generation
was irrevocably scarred by the years of warfare. AND YET God has restored life to this
devastated land. The devil intended the negative history of Angola to be used to write hopelessness
into the country's future. But God intended that the events of the past serve to bring about His
ultimate purpose "the saving of many lives."

We are assured that salvation for all who call upon the name of the Lord is to be a part of the story!

Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done [Ps. 105:1]
